My First Live Game in a Long Time
A friend had tickets to a baseball game between the Chunichi Dragons and the Yakult Swallows yesterday. We got there before the game began and watched the teams warming up. I was surprised when they asked us to stand before the game started. They played the Japanese national anthem, “Kimigayo.” They always play the American national anthem at MLB games, but this was the first time I had heard the Japanese national anthem at a NPB game. The game was exciting. There were lots of hits and several home runs. The Chunichi fans banged their plastic bats, and the Yakult fans showed their umbrellas. In the end, the Dragons lost, but I enjoyed my first live game in a long time.
