High School Essay, 2nd Prize: One Step to Adulthood
On New Year’s Day, I have a chore at my grandparents’ house. The house is surrounded by trees, so many fallen leaves pile up on the roof in winter. My chore is to clean up the fallen leaves. When I was a child, I was watching what my parents were doing on the roof from below. It was an adult job. However, when I became a high school student, I was allowed to climb onto the roof. This year, too, I climbed onto the roof. It was high. My legs shook, but I did my chore because I was no longer a child. After cleaning, I felt very refreshed. In this way, I climbed one step to adulthood.
