The Oldest Team Sport
What is the oldest team sport in the world？I found four team sports that go back more than 2000 years. One was a game like dodgeball called “ulama.” It was played in Central America (from Mexico to Costa Rica) about 3,500 years ago. There was another ball game in China called “tsu chu.” It was like soccer and was played 5,000 years ago. Two old team sports that are still played today are polo and hockey. Polo was played in Persia 2,500 years ago, but it was a sport for the rich. You needed to have your own horse. Hockey was played in ancient Greece. You can find figures of men holding hockey sticks from that time.
