考えるところあって先月から「今日のじゃれマガ」をお休みしておりましたが、復刊することにしました。
ただし、「今日の」ではなくて「今週の」とします。

今週のじゃれマガの中から、特にお手本にしたい文をピックアップしたいと思います。

The Big Mac Index
How do you know whether countries around the world are cheaper or more expensive than your own country? You can compare prices of things, but that can be difficult because each country sells many things. Besides, most countries use different currencies (money). A British magazine, the Economist, created the Big Mac Index in 1986 to make it easier to compare countries. The index shows the price of a Big Mac in almost 80 different countries. All the prices are in U.S. dollars, so it is easy to see which countries are cheap and which are expensive. Actually, Japan is cheap. A Big Mac here costs $2.83, but in the U.S., it costs $5.15!

今週のじゃれマガから上記の文が一番のお手本だと思いました。

英国の雑誌「 the Economist 」は１９８６年に国々を簡単に比較できるBig Mac指標を考案しました
･･･という主旨の英語ですが、このto make it easier toがとても使える英語です。

ちょっと分析してみましょう。
①It is easy to read Jaremaga.
（じゃれマガを読むのは易しい）
②It is easier to read Jaremaga than to read a newspaper.
（じゃれマガを読むのは新聞を読むより易しい）
③Jaremaga makes it easier to read English every day.
（じゃれマガは毎日英語を読むことを容易にしてくれる）

①は誰でも言えると思いますが、②は少し難度が上がり、③のように使いこなせる人は多くはないかもしれません。
