3月8日は国際女性デーだったそうです。慌てて新聞を見直すと･･･たしかにありました。でも扱いは小さく、日本での盛り上がりのなさを実感しました。
★学びたい英語/まねたい英語（特にお手本と思うところ）
・最後の文に出てくるwomen’s problems･･･おやっと思ったのは私だけでしょうか。女性が引き起こす問題ではなくて女性を取りまく問題ですね、もちろん。
・同じ文のachievements･･･訳しにくい英語というか、場面に応じていろいろな日本語になる言葉ですね。ここでは個人的には「業績」という言葉が浮かびます。

International Women’s Day
Last Sunday was International Women’s Day. This day has been celebrated on March 8 since 1913. At that time, women in most countries could not do the same things as men. They could not vote in an election. They could not get good jobs, and they were not paid as well as men. Most people thought that women should stay home and take care of the children. These days women can do many things. They have important jobs, and some are leaders in business and government. International Women’s Day is a day to learn more about women’s problems and their achievements.
