・テレビや映画と違って本はいつ読んでもいい･･･日本語でならこんな風に言うところですね。certainという英語、色々に活躍します
・本を読むのにかかる時間は、読む速さ、何を読むか、楽しんでいるかによる･･･depend on にはhow, what, if いろいろな続け方ができるお手本ですね
・前半と後半は、英語ではfirst, second を使うこと、覚えておきましょう
・the 比較級、the 比較級は必須英語ですね
・ほとんど口もきかなかった･･･hardlyはnotとほぼ同じことですが、notを使うより趣がありますね

In Another World
It’s summer, and people have more free time than usual. How about spending your time reading a book? Unlike TV and movies, books don’t start and finish at a certain time. The time it takes to read a book depends on how fast you read, what kind of book you are reading, and if you are enjoying it. My daughter lent me a mystery by Higashino Keigo last week. It took me almost a week to read the first half of the book, but the more exciting the story became, the faster I read. It only took me two days to finish the second half. I didn’t check my email or go on the Internet, and I hardly talked to my wife. I was in another world.
