The Newest Blue
People have made blue paint for thousands of years. The oldest blue color is probably Egyptian blue. It was used in ancient Egypt more than 4000 years ago. Another old blue comes from China. It was first used about 3000 years ago. There are many more kinds of blue, but the last man-made blue was created about 200 years ago. Then, in 2009, a university professor discovered a new blue. Professor Mas Subramanian of Oregon State University was working on a project to make new materials for electronics with his student. They were surprised when they made a new blue material by accident. The new blue is called Oregon Blue, Mas Blue, or YInMn Blue. It is an exciting discovery because it is a bright blue, and it is safer for your health than most other blues.
