Readers’ Corner: My New Hobby
I’m intrigued by butterflies. Although I enjoy birdwatching in the wintertime, it’s hard for me to do it in the summertime because of so many leaves on the trees. Then one summer day several years ago, I happened to watch a butterfly perching on a flower in my garden and took some pictures. That turned out to be the beginning of my new hobby, butterfly watching. Although I am still a beginner, I especially enjoy watching swallowtail butterflies visiting my garden. A few years ago, a neighbor gave me some tiger lily bulbs (“oniyuri kyukon”), and then I found out that swallowtail butterflies are fond of those flowers. I like to take pictures of them sucking the nectar of the flowers in the daytime.
