Nagoya TV Tower in the News
Nagoya TV Tower was in the news last week. It looks like the TV Tower will become an important cultural asset （”juyobunkazai”） this year. It is special in modern Japanese history. As one Jaremaga reader wrote in September 2018, Nagoya TV Tower was the first TV tower built in Japan. It was designed by Naito Tachu. It was Naito’s first TV tower, but it wasn’t his last. He went on to design the Sapporo TV Tower and Tokyo Tower. Now, a special committee has chosen the Nagoya TV Tower as an important cultural asset, and I’m sure that MEXT (the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) will agree with their decision.
