Readers’ Corner: Buzzwords of 2023
At the beginning of this month, the educational service provider U-Can announced the nomination of 30 buzzwords for the year 2023. Most of them were familiar to me, but there were some words I had never heard. What struck me most was the phrase “atarashii senzen” which means “new pre-war.” It was new to me. The phrase was used on a talk show by a famous comedian. When he was asked on the show, “What kind of year will 2023 be?” he answered, “Perhaps a new pre-war time.” Considering what is happening now in the world, it really is true. Lots of things come to mind. Did any new buzzwords catch your attention this year?
