Readers’ Corner: A Digital World Here and There
I went to Shiga and Kyoto with my friend the other day. It’s been a while since I visited those places. On the morning of the second day, at Kyoto station, we found that system had changed when my friend and I tried to leave our baggage at a coin locker in the station. You can’t deposit cash; you need to pay with a credit card or a prepaid card instead. There is no key to lock the door anymore. Instead, a paper with a QR code comes out. Facing this door, I was a bit puzzled at first. Our lives are becoming more convenient and at the same time more complicated. I sometimes have difficulty keeping up with technological advances.
