Readers’ Corner: Good Married Couple Day
Tomorrow is a day known as Good Married Couple Day. In Japanese, November 22 can be read as “ii fuufu.” Many young Japanese couples hold their wedding and have their marriage registered on this day. They pray that they will have a long, happily married life. It seems very superstitious (“meishinbukai”) to me. One of my nephews got married in May, but the marriage hasn’t been registered. They are going to do it tomorrow morning. They will also have a party in the afternoon with their close friends. I hope their life will be full of happiness.
