Readers’ Corner: Daddy-Long-Legs
One of my favorite childhood books was “Daddy-Long-Legs” written by Jean Webster. I read the novel in translation again and again. The book was made up of only letters from one college girl. At that time, I had a pen friend, and we enjoyed exchanging letters with each other. When I wrote letters, I often copied her letter-writing style. During the corona pandemic, I made up my mind to read it in the original. There were a lot of words I didn’t know, but I read it through without looking them up in the dictionary because I knew the story. Her sentences were so nice and vivid that I knew how much she enjoyed her college life. I was very happy to read the original book.
