Japan’s Year
I’m a big fan of figure skating, and this was Japan’s year. Japanese skaters did even better at the 2023 World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama than last year. Sakamoto Kaori won last year’s women’s singles competition in Montpellier, France, and she took the gold this year. Uno Shoma has gotten two gold medals in a row, too. Actually, I think these two skaters are very similar. They skate with style and come out of their jumps very smoothly. They make skating look so easy! In the pairs, Miura Riku and Kihara Ryuichi also took the gold medal. It was their first.
