Readers’ Corner: Sightseeing and Wasabi
We went sightseeing in Tokyo on December 31. My daughter wanted to go to Tsukishima to eat Monjayaki. When we arrived at 11 am, we found few tourists on the street and some restaurants were closed for the New Year. After lunch, we walked to Tsukiji. They had a lot of reasonable seafood there. Unfortunately, I had already ordered sushi for dinner that day. However, I found something interesting in a shop, wasabi root. We usually see wasabi packed in a plastic tube or a plastic packet, but this was fresh wasabi root. I bought one. The staff told us how to eat it and said that we could keep it for three months. We were surprised! We looked forward to eating our sushi with the fresh wasabi, but the sushi that we bought already had wasabi on it!
