交差点でトラックの走行を邪魔してしまったようですが、交差点内の位置関係をイメージしにくいですね。
察するところ、片道一車線の道路の交差点で対向車線に停まってしまったしまったのでしょうか。だから右から来て左折したいトラックが大回りをして左車線に旋回して行った・・・ということのようですね。
it was a two-lane streetというのがわかりにくさの原因ですね。これは往復２車線、つまり片側１車線のことのようです。

Readers’ Corner: Bad Driving
One day, when I was driving home from the hospital, I suddenly remembered that I had to go shopping. I had to turn right and changed lanes. Just then, the light turned red, so I stopped the car on the right side of the street. A large truck came from the right and started to make a left turn in front of me. I realized that it was a two-lane street and I was in his lane. I tried to back up, but the truck passed my car and turned onto the wrong side of the road. The driver looked stunned. I was so disgusted with myself that I began to think seriously about returning my driver’s license.
