★今日のじゃれマガ 全文
Readers’ Corner: Bokashi and Cherry Tomatoes
For the first time this year, I used Bokashi to grow cherry tomatoes (“mini tomato”). What is Bokashi? I looked it up on the Internet, and it said that Bokashi is an effective fertilizer (“hiryo”) made from compost (“taihi”). I bought a Bokashi packet and put vegetable scraps, eggshells, and used tea leaves in it and let it ferment (“hakko suru”). I then mixed it into the soil and grew tomatoes. This year, I am very happy with the many sweet tomatoes I have produced. (Note from Jaremaga: Bokashi was developed by Professor Higa at the University of the Ryukus in the 1980s. It is probably the fastest way to make organic fertilizer.)
