Readers’ Corner: Scary Mushrooms
I heard a story about some large white mushrooms that were found on a university campus in the spring. I saw signs warning people not to eat the mushrooms because they were poisonous. I didn’t see the mushrooms myself, but I heard from a university staff member that a man had eaten some. He suffered from nausea (“hakike”), a headache, and a stomachache, and his body became numb (he couldn’t feel anything). In a few days, he seemed to get better. He was out of bed and moving around. However, a few days later, he suddenly died. These big white mushrooms are very scary!
